Those interested in arts, culture and digital possibilities should definitely get on board INDIGital, coming up in Perth next month.
A free one-day digital storytelling symposium, INDIGital is presented by Perth International Arts Festival with Yirra Yaakin Theatre Company and will take place on the 24th of February. The symposium brings together Indigenous practitioners working across different artforms and creative industries, along with digital creatives interested in collaborations to help bring Indigenous stories to the world.
Tyson Mowarin and Stuart Campbell – key collaborators on the Yijala Yala Project – will both be presenting in the symposium’s ‘Creators Spotlight’ sessions, sharing some insight into their individual practices as well as their experiences working on Ngurrara and NEOMAD. Other presenter highlights include award-winning director Warwick Thornton, YouTube’s head of content partnerships for Australia and New Zealand Felicity McVay and SBS Online Senior Content Producer Kylie Boltin. See the full day’s program HERE.
The symposium is ideal for Indigenous artists and creative practitioners wishing to explore digital platforms and new creative tools, and non indigenous practitioners in arts, film and digital media who are interested in collaborations with indigenous storytellers that respect Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property (ICIP) Rights.
